Foundation Skills including ACSF and CSfW

The Implementation of Foundation Skills

Aims to ensure that students develop language, literacy and numeracy skills, along with the core skills that are required for the workplace, as an integral part of their vocational training. To support this aim, the government has introduced the three frameworks and guidelines; Australian Core Skills Framework, Core Skills for Work Developmental Framework and Foundation Skills Training Package, to help vocational training organisations achieve these goals for the benefit of their students.

Department Frameworks & Guidelines

Australian Core Skills Framework

The ACSF provides a way of defining and measuring a student’s current level of language, literacy and numeracy.

Core Skills for Work Developmental Framework (CSfW)

CSfW replaces employability skills as a way of defining and measuring a student’s ability to meet the core skills required within a workplace.

Foundation Skills Training Package

This new training package supports effective implementation of ACSF and CSfW requirements into vocational education and training.
